What is Homecoming?:

  • Homecoming is an annual event hosted by the Student Council. First, there is a spirit week that occurs the week of Homecoming. During the spirit week, spirit points are accumulated for each grade in a battle for which grade has the most spirit. Additionally, each grade gets a theme to decorate their designated area for that Friday using their class color. Seniors have black as their color, juniors are green, sophomores are yellow, and freshmen have white. The Class Council manages the decorating with their corresponding grade, and the decorations go towards the spirit points as well. Additionally, there is a competition in each gym class between each grade, and spirit points are also accumulated from this. Also, the seniors get to nominate a Homecoming Court and get to vote on a Homecoming King and Queen. Next, there is a pep rally that takes place at the end of the school day on Friday of Homecoming weekend. Then, there is a brunch for school alumni. Later, there is an action-packed football game starring our own High School South Pirate Varsity Football Team. Anyone can come to the football game, including the alumni that attended the breakfast. To end the day, there is a school dance that takes place, and is the first one of the year. ONLY SOUTH STUDENTS ARE ALLOWED TO ATTEND THE DANCE, AND STUDENT ID IS REQUIRED!
