Constitution of the West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South Student Council:

  • Section 1 – The Student Council’s goal is to address all student concerns including but not limited to: new clubs, events, and charity work.
  • Section 2 – Student Council members must be kind and courteous to peers, teachers, and administrators. They must be honest, forthcoming, ethical, and respectful. Student Council representatives should be role models for their peers. If the representative behaves in a manner unbecoming of a role model, the advisor and school administrators have the right to remove the student from the Council.
  • Section 3 – All Student Council Members are responsible for completing their jobs which are designated to them at meetings and events. The failure to complete those jobs may result in removal from the Student Council.
  • Section 4 – In order to run for an executive position of Student Council, the candidate must have at least one year experience as a Student Council representative. Officers are expected to dedicate time and effort to Student Council. They must keep their binders organized and follow job descriptions. The failure to adhere to all requirements of their office is grounds for removal from office.

      • Delegate jobs
      • Organize year outline (events, bake sales, fundraisers)
      • Communicate with Advisor and Officers
      • Communicate with Representatives
      • Communicate with Student Body
      • Communicate with Administrators
      • Propose ideas for student and school improvements
    • Vice President:
      • Assist President
      • Delegate to Representatives
      • Communicate in cooperation with President
      • Organize Activities
      • Oversee Student Council Store
    • Secretary:
      • Keep the minutes
      • Take diligent notes
      • Take attendance
      • Complete Student Council Portfolio with attendance to be submitted to Mrs. Zingaro
    • Treasurer:
      • Make sure money is organized
      • Keep track of cash box
      • Prepare $1 bills before events (see Advisor)
      • Keep track of budget
      • Deposit and withdraw money (Students can only deposit items $150 or below)
    • Special Assignments:
      • Prepare morning and afternoon announcements
      • Organize Friday Music
      • Adhere to miscellaneous jobs set forth by the Advisor, President, and/or Vice President
  • Section 5 – All Student Council Members must attend every event for the appropriate school year. An event consists of three parts: set up, the event itself, and clean up. Members are required to attend all three (3) portions in their entirety.
  • Section 6 – Attendance Policy: All absences from Student Council activities must be verified by a parent/guardian in the form of a written note or email which provides a phone number he or she can be contacted by. The Student Council Advisor must receive the note or email before the activity. If a note or email is not received by the Advisor before an activity it will result in an unexcused absence. One excused absence will result in a warning. two unexcused absences are grounds for immediate removal from the Council.
  • Section 7 – Amendment Procedure: The Student Council has the authority to amend and modify this Constitution to better run the School and the Student Council. These amendments must be brought forth in writing to the Student Council, signed by five members, and ratified by a majority of the members present at the meeting when voting occurs.
